Healthcare supply-chain group offers free planning and educational resources
SMI, primarily focused on supply chain management in healthcare facilities, has bulked up its website with a slate of videos, software tools, case studies and similar education materials. The organization, which has been operating since 2005, has a handful of initiatives looking at integrated delivery models, perfect order management, accountable care organizations, and adoption of GS1 serialization standards, among others. Current members include each of the Big Three wholesalers, nearly 60 provider organizations, and a dozen pharma/med device manufacturers, including Abbott Labs, J&J and Covidien.
The group’s next semiannual meeting is in Phoenix, Nov. 6-8. More information is available at www.smisuppplychain.com.
