Wolters Kluwer Scores Prescription-Sales Data Contract From BMS
Dataset has ‘exclusive’ source, the ArcLight consortium
In the competition for providing sales data to pharma marketers, Wolters Kluwer Health (Bridgewater, NJ) says that it has won a multi-year contract with Bristol-Myers Squibb. It will deliver HIPAA-compliant sales data from its Source service to BMS for measuring sales force effectiveness and managing its marketing activities. Wolters claims that the Source dataset captures nearly 80% of prescription transactions in the U.S., covering many of the leading retail chain pharmacies. It includes exclusive sources tracing back to the Arclight Systems business, which was acquired by NDCHealth years ago (and in turn, Wolters acquired NDC in 2005). These retailers add 4,100 retail outlets, amounting to 360 million prescriptions annually.
“This is not only a big win for Wolters Kluwer Health, but the fact that Bristol-Myers Squibb selected us after undertaking an objective, thorough evaluation against others in the marketplace demonstrates its confidence in our data,” says David Martin, VP, marketing and business development, Wolters Kluwer Health. “Adding another major pharma player like Bristol-Myers Squibb solidifies our solutions as a clearly competitive offering in the marketplace.” PC
