Awards at annual Distribution Management Conference
The Healthcare Distribution Management Assn., the lead trade association for US pharmaceutical wholesaler/distributors, awarded its annual Industry Leadership honor to Hal Harrison, recently appointed CEO of North Carolina Mutual Wholesale Drug Co. (Durham, NC). The award recognizes Harrison’s contributions to the drug wholesale industry; he is also the leader of HDMA’s Industry Relations Council. Mutual Drug is a regional wholesaler (NC, SC and VA) serving independent pharmacies in the area.
Also recognized at the meeting (held in San Antonio, TX, March 6-9) was AmerisourceBergen, honored with a Distribution Management Award for its innovations in developing a centralized data source for all of its subsidiaries and trading partners to prepare for compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act of 2013. AmerisourceBergen developed the methodology (which is a model for other US distributors) to collect and transmit Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) messages, which in turn enables the tracking of drug products through the distribution process.
“We are thrilled to offer an industry solution that both streamlines and strengthens the healthcare supply chain,” said Heather Zenk, VP, Global Secure Supply Chain, AmerisourceBergen. “It is an honor to receive this HDMA award in recognition of our industry partnership and innovative approach to meeting DSCSA requirements.”
