Schreiner introduces combined package insert/label with security features
Three levels of security will be on display at Interphex
Schreiner MediPharm, whose US unit is in Blauvelt, NY, provides labels, inserts and other attachments to pharma vials, containers and cartons. With the newly introduced Security Booklet-Label, it has designed a packaging feature that provides necessary consumer infomation, along with tamper evidence and multiple levels of security. In Europe, it will help manufacturers meet the tamper-evidence parts of the EU 2016/161 Falsified Medicines Directive, but more generally it provides enhanced safety and security for drug packaging.
Besides a seal that provides a first-opening indication when broken, the Booklet-Label uses BitSecure technology, which prevents duplication, the KeySecure tracing system, a 15-digit alphanumeric code for item-level serialization, and an integrated NFC RFID chip, which can be read by smartphones for on-the-spot authentication.
