CCT to Debut MedAssure Platform at LogiPharma 2026 Amid Growing Global Logistics Challenges

Cold Chain Technologies (CCT) has announced the upcoming launch of MedAssure, a new cold chain orchestration platform. The platform will be officially introduced at LogiPharma 2026, where the company will exhibit at Stands 83-85 and container areas C24 and C25.¹

Designed specifically for the life science sector, MedAssure aims to provide proactive, data-driven intelligence to reduce operational risks, total logistics costs, and environmental footprints.¹

How Can MedAssure Address Global Cold Chain Vulnerabilities?

The launch of MedAssure comes at a critical time for the pharmaceutical industry, as manufacturers face geopolitical and climate-related disruptions.¹ Current industry data highlight the high stakes of thermal management; for example, the global cold chain market now accounts for 38% of all pharmaceuticals, a significant increase from 26% in 2017.²

“In the face of an increasingly volatile global cold chain, pharmaceutical companies need more than reactive cold chain management, they need a strategic, end‑to‑end system that anticipates risk, optimises performance and ensures product integrity,” said Paul Della Villa, director of Digital Solutions & Services at CCT, in a release.¹

Despite heavy investment, traditional systems often remain reactive. According to IQVIA temperature excursions—where products are stored outside required ranges—remain a pervasive issue even in high-income countries.² Data indicates that about 33% of vaccine storage in higher-income nations experience exposure to temperatures below recommended guidelines.² CCT’s MedAssure platform is engineered to move beyond mere visibility, toward optimization and proactive problem-solving to mitigate these frequent failures.¹

How Does Strategic Cold Chain Orchestration Differ from Generic Visibility in Reducing Pharma Logistics Risks?

MedAssure is presented as a key addition to CCT’s thermal assurance ecosystem, which combines established product solutions with emerging digital technologies and human expertise. Della Villa noted that pharmaceutical companies require more than just standard tracking. "MedAssure, unlike generic visibility platforms, combines purpose-built technology with hands-on technical partnership, product design and diverse supply models," he said.¹ “This fusion of technology, packaging supply, insight, and support enables customers to optimize their supply chain design and digitize their unique operational risks in a way that visibility alone cannot.”¹

The economic necessity for such optimization is underscored by the high cost of cold chain failures. Research shows that storage costs account for 82.6% of the total annual economic impact of the vaccine cold chain in Europe, while wastage accounts for 17.3%. Procurement typically represents only 30% of a vaccine's total cost, with the remaining 70% hidden in logistics and wastage.² By utilizing MedAssure’s predictive intelligence, manufacturers might better address these "below the surface" expenses.

What Is the Sustainability and Environmental Impact?

Beyond financial considerations, MedAssure is designed to support the industry's shift toward sustainable procurement.¹ The healthcare sector is responsible for approximately 4.4% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, with the cold chain contributing significantly more emissions per dollar of revenue than the automotive industry.² CCT intends for MedAssure to assist attendees in meeting sustainability goals by reducing energy-intensive temperature excursions and minimizing the environmental burden of wasted products.¹
