AmerisourceBergen CEO has had a 37-year career in healthcare distribution
At HDMA’s annual Business & Leadership Conference this week, HDMA’s research arm, the Center for Healthcare Supply Chain Research, and its industry sponsor, Genentech, Inc., honored Yost with the 2011 Nexus Award for Lifetime Achievement. The award recognizes leadership in the healthcare industry and HDMA, as well as community involvement and professional accomplishment.
R. David Yost, has been CEO of AmerisourceBergen since its origin in the merger of AmeriSource Health and Bergen Brunswig Corp. in 2001. He started in the industry in 1974 as a salesman at a predecessor company to AmeriSource, eventually rising to chairman and CEO of AmeriSource. AmerisourceBergen is today a $78-billion company, No. 27 on the Fortune 500. Yost is also on the board of directors of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers, Tyco Corp., the Board of Trustees of Penn Medicine, and a founding director of the United States Air Force Academy Endowment Board. He is a graduate of the Air Force Academy, and has an MBA from UCLA.
