New routes, and a new operational system

Air cargo services to/from Latin America and North America or Europe for the life sciences industry are being upgraded by LATAM Cargo. The company has announced new routes, including direct cargo service between Miami, FL, and northern Chile (Antofagasta and Santiago), and an expected expansion of trips between Guarulhos, Brazil and Lisbon, Portugal and Munich, Germany.

Several weeks ago, the company announced adoption of the Croamis (Cargo Reservations, Operations, Accounting and Management Information System), said by its developer, Wipro Systems, to be the most advanced air cargo tracking system available. To be implemented over the next two years, LATAM Cargo says that Croamis will offer customers the convenience of a new tracking system, more and better self-service tools such as e-booking, e-claims, e-rates and a system in line with the highest industry standards. Pharma cold-chain tracking is not an initial service offering of the new system, but that capability is being targeted for future implementation, according to Cristina Oñate, VP marketing and product development.

Last year, LATAM Cargo became the first airline based in the Americas to earn CEIV Pharma certification (a program managed by the International Air Transport Assn.), both for the airline itself, and for its Miami hub.
