CMR Institute Offers New Sales-Rep Training
Distance-learning modules lead to a “Certificate of Professional Competency”
CMR Institute (Roanoke, VA), the only nationally recognized training program for certifying medical representatives and managers, has developed a new training program called 4C (for “Core Competencies, Capabilities and Credibility”). It is an addition to the Institute’s programs for certified medical representatives (CMR) and certified pharmaceutical manager (CPM).
The program consists of 35 “learning modules” designed to be taken as distance-learning courses at a pace and schedule of the student’s own choosing. It is said to be up-to-date with the latest state regulations, such as the District of Columbia’s SafeRx Act or Massachusetts’ Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Manufacturer Conduct Regulation. The program can be completed in approximately 30 hours, and, upon successful completion of testing, a certificate of professional competency is granted.
Curriculum scope
Topics of the 35 modules include:
- Overview of the pharmaceutical industry
- Fundamentals of managed healthcare
- Ethics and compliance
- Overview of today’s physician
- Territory management
- The value of pharmaceuticals
- Introduction to disease management
- Basic pharmacology
- Human body and science
CMR Institute is a non-profit organization founded in 1966 expressly for training medical reps. In addition to its distance-learning programs, it collaborates with degree-granting programs at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Nova Southeastern University, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Seton Hall University and Virginia Tech. Over 45 biopharma companies have contracted directly with the Institute for rep training. PC
