TrumpRx Launches With MFN-Based Drug Discounts
Key Takeaways
- TrumpRx offers MFN-aligned discounts via coupons for brand-name drugs, with 43 products listed and expansion anticipated across categories including fertility and anti-obesity GLP-1 therapies.
- Distribution is indirect, relying on pharmacy-redeemable coupon cards for some drugs and manufacturer DTC sites or limited mail-order pharmacy networks for others.
The new platform offers coupon-driven discounts on dozens of high-cost brand name drugs, while raising new questions about eligibility, access, and how savings are applied.
It’s now official—TrumpRx has launched.
President Trump shared the news last night at a press event, noting that via TrumpRx.gov, patients can receive large discounts on many of the popular and highest-priced meds in the US, paying prices in line with those of other nations, known as most-favored nation pricing, or MFN.1
“This is the most impactful prescription price reset in the history of our country,” a large quote reads on the TrumpRx homepage.2 “It puts more money in Americans’ pockets and finally brings care back within reach.”
Given the questions that patients may have, the new website offers an FAQ section dedicated to many of the common concerns.
Which drugs are included in the TrumpRx discount program?
For those wondering which specific drugs are listed on the website, the commonly prescribed brand-name medications are listed, including in the fertility and weight loss space. Concerning the latter, this includes the standard GLP-1s, such as Ozempic, Zepbound, and Wegovy, (in both injectable and the newly approved pill form). There are currently 43 drugs available, but “many more drugs” are expected soon.
Does TrumpRx sell medications directly to patients?
Originally, as noted by Pharmaceutical Executive,3 there were rumblings that the platform was supposed to be more of government-DTC site, meaning that patients would be able to purchase medicine directly through the site. However, that’s actually not the case—the site doesn’t sell medications, bur rather, it instead offers coupon card that individuals can either use at pharmacies or at the participating manufacturers’ websites.
How do patients redeem TrumpRx discounts?
If patients want to obtain a medication that’s listed on TrumpRx, manufacturers can offer discounted pricing via two main channels. For certain medications, TrumpRx provides coupon cards that patients can use at participating local pharmacies nationwide, except for some specialty drugs.
For other products, coupon cards are not offered, and the reduced prices are available only through the manufacturer’s direct-to-consumer website or a select group of mail-order pharmacies.
Can insurance be used with TrumpRx pricing?
Insurance can’t be used however, as the discounted pricing is only available for cash-paying patients. That also means that purchases made using any coupons will not count towards a patient’s deductible.
How much could patients save on GLP-1 and other high-cost drugs?
These price reductions work like this: If one were to pay month for Ozempic and injectable Wegovy, coupon codes would decrease the prices from $1,028 and $1,349 respectively, to an average price of $350, and even as low as $199, depending on dosage strength.
The discount is even more noticeable when the analyzing the monthly price of oral Wegovy—the price decreases from $1,349 to as low as $149, also depending on the dosage selected.
Who is eligible to use TrumpRx coupons?
To be eligible to utilize the coupons, patients must be US residents and verify that they are not enrolled in any federal, state, or government-funded medical or prescription programs. They are also required to attest that they will not submit claims for reimbursement of their out-of-pocket expenses to any insurance plan.
Restrictions also vary by medication.
Which drug manufacturers are participating in TrumpRx?
Since TrumpRx was announced in 2025, 16 Big Pharma companies
“For far too long, Americans have shouldered a disproportionate share of the global cost of innovation to help develop breakthroughs for the entire world,” commented Albert Bourla, Pfizer’s chairman and CEO, in a press release.4 “As the first pharmaceutical company to support President Trump in addressing this imbalance, we’re proud to continue to work with the administration in ensuring affordability for American patients, while preserving America’s position at the forefront of medical innovation.”
