AI has moved from pilot projects into pharma's commercial operations, and sales and marketing is one of the areas where manufacturers say it is already paying off. In a survey of 115 U.S.-based technology executives at multinational pharma and biotech companies, 47% said they are consistently demonstrating measurable value from AI and digital investments in commercial sales and marketing, including healthcare professional (HCP) engagement and personalization. Those same executives remain cautious about how far AI should go with customers. In customer- and patient-facing functions, most favored smaller-scale use cases built on human-in-the-loop task automation or assistants and copilots.¹
