WDSrx expands controlled substances storage

In case you were wondering what pharma distributors striving to meet DEA requirements for controlled-substances (Class II, or “CII”) distribution do, here’s some illustration from Woodfield Distribution LLC (WDSrx), which recently completed an expansion (to 2,600 sq. ft) for CII storage. The door shown alone weighs 10,000 lb; the entire vault’s weight is estimated at over 112 tons. DEA requirements specify walls and ceilings that can withstand all but the most determined entry, and entrances and exits to be locked out and continually monitored. The construction was handled by Vault Structures (Fort Myers, FL).

“The new vault accommodates the current needs of our clients in the Boca Raton, FL facility and anticipates additional demand for premium vault space for future customers,” said Adam Runsdorf, WDSrx president, in a statement. Exclusively dedicated to the life sciences, WDSrx facilities cover over 220,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space for receipt, storage and fulfillment of pharmaceutical drug products. A distribution center in Sugar Land, TX, was opened late last year with similar CII capacity. The company provides integrated pharmaceutical 3PL managed services and value-added solutions including include warehousing, transportation management, reverse logistics, cold chain management, packaging and physician and patient support
