What Kenco's AI Rollout Signals for 3PL
Key Takeaways
- DeepFabric’s first six agents are running in Kenco’s daily operations, automating bids, audits, and exception handling to free staff for higher-judgment work and faster customer responsiveness.
- Deployment occurred within three months without reported service disruption, signaling operational readiness for scaled AI integration in high-throughput 3PL environments.
Kenco has put DeepFabric's AI agents into live production across its 3PL operations, with plans to scale to 20 agents within a year.
DeepFabric, a Dallas-based supply chain AI agent platform, announced a strategic partnership Aug. 5, under which Kenco, a North American 3PL with a pharmaceuticals and lifesciences branch, has deployed the company's first six AI agents into live production. Kenco plans to expand to 20 agents across its enterprise within the next year, the companies said.1
The first six agents are live across Kenco's day-to-day operations, and according to the companies, the agents are meant to reduce manual, time-consuming work and sharpen decision making, giving Kenco teams more time to focus on complex, high-judgment work and allowing for faster response times and greater accuracy and consistency.
"DeepFabric's platform was engineered for logistics operations at our scale," said David Caines, Kenco's chief operating officer, in a press release.1 "We put our first six agents into production in three months, without disrupting service to a single customer, and we are on a path to 20 across the enterprise over the next year. Kenco needs to stay agile for our customers – providing faster response times, sharper insights, and scaling without missing a beat. With DeepFabric, we are confident we can deliver on what our customers need and deserve,” he said.
“They are deploying agents into the real work: the bids, the audits, the exceptions, the client relationships. And they are building a foundation that gets stronger with every workflow they add," said Kalyan Kommineni, founder and CEO of DeepFabric.1
How Is AI Adoption Accelerating Across 3PLs?
The deal builds on DeepFabric's momentum with logistics operators and supply chain-intensive companies. DeepFabric launched general availability of its platform July 8 with production customers including NFI, HelloFresh, TwinMed, Merchants Fleet and Weber, spanning 3PL, CPG, medical distribution, fleet management, manufacturing and retail.2 At that launch, the company cited a 2026 PwC survey finding that 89% of supply chain leaders said their technology investments hadn't delivered expected results, signaling a shift in how 3PL vendors move toward tighter,
How Is Kenco Splitting Agentic and Generative AI Investment?
Kenco's approach distinguishes between two complementary categories of AI investment, according to the companies: agentic AI, which completes tasks within defined guardrails, and generative AI, which creates content and surfaces insights. DeepFabric powers the agentic layer, handling structured operational workflows including bids, audits and exception handling with what the companies described as the consistency and audit trail enterprise logistics requires. Each agent operates with workflow context, systems access, permissions, evidence trails and human review paths built in, and Kenco's teams maintain accountability and decision authority throughout, according to DeepFabric.1
That framing, using automation to clear manual work so staff can focus on higher-judgment tasks, tracks with how pharma supply chain leaders have described successful fourth industrial revolution (4IR) technology adoption elsewhere. In an
